Welcome to The Gothenburg Museum of Natural History

The museum was founded in 1833 and is the oldest museum in Gothenburg. In 1923 the collections were moved from the old East India Company building to a building of its own in the park "Slottsskogen".
You can take tram or bus to Linnéplatsen to get to the museum. If you'd rather like to walk it takes about 20 minutes from the City center.
The exhibitions of the museum are most famous for its stuffed blue whale and a very beautiful African elefant, but there is a lot more to see.
In case you're visiting the museum with a group and want us to help with your planning, contact our educational department.
The café and the museumstore is found at the entrance floor.
Since January 1st 1999 the museum has the Region of West Sweden as principal.
