About the museum
IN SWEDISH
Welcome to the Göteborg Natural History Museum.
The museum was founded in 1833. It is the
oldest museum in the city. In 1923, the zoological collections were moved from what was once the East
India Company building downtown, to where we are today in the green parkarea Slottsskogen.
The museum is famous mainly for its blue whale and a beautifully preserved African elephant, but offers
a lot more to its visitors!
