Search in the collections

A curator opens a locker to the collections

A major project with the museum collections is to digitize them in order to make them both useful and accessible. Registration of objects is an ongoing process and a lot of work remains to be done. There are currently four portals or search functions: search in the zoological collections, search in the insect collection, search in the geology catalogue and search in the photograph collection.

Search in the geology collection

You can search among 6,241 items in the museum's geology collection. Most of the material in the catalogue consists of fossils which were brought to the museum between 1900 and 1935.

Search in the photographic collection

The museum's collection of photographs contains more than 25,000 images. The photographic material comes from expeditions, research trips and work at the museum over the years. There are glass plates, slides, scioptiocon images, positives, negatives, and many thrilling stories to discover.
