Sunday November 15 at 3 pm – 4 pm

Today, author Iida Turpeinen and marine biologist/author Kennet Lundin meet for a conversation about the spirit of adventure, science, and biodiversity.

The Gothenburg Natural History Museum is filled with dead animals and living people – much like Iida Turpeinen’s book Beasts of the Sea. Today, we look back at animals that once lived and explore how museums can play a role in preserving those that remain.

We start in the library for a discussion before heading out into the museum for a brief tour, featuring – among other things – the skeleton of a Steller’s sea cow.

Iida Turpeinen is an author whose debut book, Beasts of the Sea, traces the history of the extinct Steller’s sea cow, a story also populated by scientists and museum professionals.

Kennet Lundin is the museum’s marine biologist as well as an author who writes books about seafood and biodiversity.
